Yet, Nissan is getting ready to introduce its e-POWER hybrid system to U. S. market for the first time, using the all-new 2027 Rogue Hybrid. The new SUV has a launch date scheduled for November, in hopes of providing American consumers with an alternative to traditional, gas-only vehicles and electric vehicles. Based on Nissan Americas Chairman Christian Meunier, ”the company really wants to get hybrids quickly to about 30% to 40% of the sales in the relevant segment in the U. S. which we think of as the C segment.”
November Launch for the New Rogue Hybrid
Per Nissan’s website, the 2027 Rogue Hybrid SR with Technology Package will be available for select customers in November 2026. The rest of the trims (SV, SR, and Platinum) are set to be released in January 2027. The SR with Technology Package has a starting MSRP of $41,490, and the wide variety of Rogue Hybrids starts at $35,490 for the SV.
The launch is a significant new addition to Nissan’s electrified vehicle portfolio in the U.S. The company currently also sells the Rogue PHEV, but the all-new Rogue Hybrid takes a different strategy that doesn’t require plugged-in charging.
How Nissan e-Power Works
The third-generation e-POWER system from Nissan is constructed with the electric motors at the wheels with a gasoline engine used for charging the system. The Rogue Hybrid delivers power to the wheels through two electric motors, which removes the need of a conventional transmission and gives the SUV with an electric-motor-driven response.
Still, the Rogue e-POWER is not a traditional plug-in hybrid. It doesn’t require being plugged into a battery charger when not in use. Instead, it can top off at your neighborhood service station, still providing electric-like torque and acceleration.
The electrification of the Civic will help Honda fill the sales gap caused by the pandemic Honda is now working on a version of the Civic hybrid for the North American market. Takanashi expects a full launch of its e-Power hybrid technology in Japan next year.
40 MPG City Efficiency
Fuel economy is a key feature that Nissan wants to emphasize with the new Rogue Hybrid. Nissan announces an estimated 40 mpg city rating for the SR AWD model. All Rogue Hybrid models are loaded with dual-motor all-wheel drive with electric motors at each axle.
Electric drive, gasoline-powered electricity generation, and all-wheel drive provide Nissan with a package by which they can bring to market a hybrid SUV without requiring users to change their refueling practices. This could be very meaningful to consumers who are interested in better fuel efficiency but not yet willing to make the transition to pure electric driving.
Technology-Focused Interior
The new Rogue Hybrid, like the traditional Rogue, boasts a tech-rich cabin. Buyers in certain trims will find dual 14.3-inch information screens, Google Built-In, wireless connectivity with smartphones, Qi2 wireless charging and a Bose premium sound system. Nissan gives a 3D HD Better Intelligent Around View Monitor on higher trims in the lineup.
A practical side continues on with the vehicle that is updated Rogue providing up to 5 passengers plus as much as 39 cubic feet of volume behind the rear seating.
